This month’s Spellbinder’s Club Kits have it all… you can really create a variety of cards with this nautical themed set. Let’s just get into it.
Silly

This Walrus is so playful! He just makes you smile! The Die of the Month also includes a little bird with flags that could be added to create more fun. Here’s how to recreate my card:
- The background is created with patterned paper from my stash. It is run through the die cutter with the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month. TIP: Spritz the paper first with water to soften and give a deeper impression from the embossing folder. Trim to 3.75″ x 5′.
- Die cut all the pieces of the Walrus from the the Die of the Month set. I used Spellbinders Fog gray for the body, Spellbinders Anchor darker gray for his face, black for wiskers and nose. His shirt is a plaid with a solid jacket with a beanie to match his jacket. The pipe is made from a metallic brown paper from Michaels.
- Glue the pieces of the Walrus together and put a block on top to let it dry.
- Stamp all the sentiments from The Clear Stamp of the Month and use the coordinating die set to cut them all out. Now they are ready to go wherever you put them.
- On your A2 card base, adhere the background.
- Pop up your Walrus with foam squares – lots of them — then attach to card front.
- Add the sentiment and you have a very fun card that’s quick and easy.
Fun

This fun card has a special element of the Wheel spinning around and around!
- Using the Stitching Die of the Month cut two of the half wheels from wood grained paper. TIP: If you don’t have this you can create the look by dragging an brown ink cube across white paper.
- Using circle dies from any company, cut according to diagram above. TIP: Cut whole thing twice. Then cut 1/2″ circle at least 6 times more.
- Take the smallest circles – 1/2″ diameter – at least 8 and glue them on top of each other. Let dry completely.
- Glue the wooden paper pieces onto the white wheel. This helps to give stability to the wheel. TIP: Cut two of the background white wheels for extra strength – see #2. Let it dry completely.
- Using the bird dies that come with this set, die cut your bird in whatever colors you choose. TIP: You can also cut all in white and use alcohol markers to color the different parts.
- Glue your bird together and let dry completely.
- Using the Summertime Waves Embossing folder from June 2024 clubs, run a light blue piece of cardstock through the die cutting machine. Cut to 5″x 5″.
- Cut a navy or blue piece of cardstock 5.25″ x 5.25″. Glue this onto a 5.5″ square card base. Then glue on the embossed Waves piece.
- Without gluing, arrange the wheel, and the center tower of 8 small circles on the front of the card to be sure the wheel will be completely on the card front. Glue down ONLY the 8 small circle tower. Set your wheel over this and spin to be sure the wheel does not get caught anywhere. Over the circle tower glue the bird, again being sure the wheel will spin and not be glued down.
- Add your sentiment from the Clear Stamp of the Month set. On one rung of the wheel stamp or write SPIN so your recipient knows what to do. VOILA
Complex

Oh there is SOOO much in this Large Die Set of the Month. I only touched a part of it but here is what I did.
- For the background run a piece of white cardstock through the die cutter using the Embossing Folder of the Month. I cut it down to 5″x 7″ to begin.
- Ink blend a medium to dark blue on the bottom third of the background and a soft gray on the top two thirds.
- Die cut the waves out of white and light blue. Die cut the rocks out of brown, gray and black. Die cut the cloud out of gray and lighter gray behind the texture. TIP: Angle the cloud on the corner and trim off the pieces on the overhang of the card front. Piece one of the small pieces to fill in the corner of the cardfront. Die cut the lighthouse out of whatever colors you would like. I die cut the rays of light from some yellow glitter paper. Die cut the Sailboat using the Club Caboodle special die and color is any way you like. TIP: Glue three sailboats together to give dimension and focus.
- I used a 5″x 7″ card base but ended up cutting each side down a bit to give a more pleasing view. The scene was cut to 4 7/8″ x 6 1/2″. I matted it with a black piece of cardstock 5″ x 6 3/4″. After gluing the black to the card base I trimmed the base to match the black base. I then glued the scene onto the black matte finishing the card front. Add the sentiment and you are done.
Simple

This card stumped me at first…what was I going to do with the BetterPress plate of the Month. Yet in the long run, I think it became my favorite.
- I used a piece of watercolor piece of cardstock about 5″x 7″ on the BetterPress.
- On the Plate I inked Tawny Brown BetterPress ink. Cut it down to 4.25″ x 5.5″.
- The cardbase is ivory 5″x 6.5″. I ended up cutting it slightly to end up at 4 7/8″ x 6 1/4″.
- From the Stitching Die of the Month I cut out multiple Anchors using a metallic brown cardstock.
- From the same brown metallic paper I created a matte 4.5″ x 5.75″.
- For the Sentiment, it was white but it didn’t show much. I decided to use a gray cardstock, and stack three die cuts together. I also cut one out of brown cardstock and offset it to again make dimension and to show off the sentiment more.
- With all the pieces created I played with the placements and went very simple. TIP: Keep an odd number of anchors to be more eye pleasing.
This month’s Spellbinders’ Club has so much to offer. It is such a good deal and has so much variety even though still along the same nautical theme. Club kits are available from the 6th -27th of every month. This is a great value. As an added bonus when you sign up for the Deluxe Caboodle, there is always an extra gift enclosed. This month it is this really cool Sailboat die.
I hope you enjoyed these cards. Which one is your favorite? Thank you for visiting me today and may you always have smooth sailing.
