This months Stencil of the month is a great example of using stencils with a twist off their normal. As they are created and used together on their own, they make great designs. Here I’m sharing some different ways to use them.

For this first card I used the stencil on the left, that is the smallest flower. Generally this would be the center of the flower set of stencils. I used it in the usual way by laying it over my paper and coloring it, using a blending brush and Distress Honey Mustard ink.
Here’s where I change it up…

Using the same stencil, I picked one of the flowers and place it over the already colored flower then ROTATED it. It will create an eight pedal flower. I do this for each of the flowers on the card front. Voila – it looks like sunflowers.
Then I took the stencil on the right and used it to encircle the sunflower with Distress Prize Ribbon ink.
For the flower centers I added some Spellbinders gems to give it some sparkle. The added sentiment is from the Clear Stamp and Die of the Month.

The second way I tossed up the stencils it to use only one small part of a stencil to create grass on the golf course.

Using the left stencil from above, I only inked the center bottom, repeating the pattern along the bottom of the card front. I used Distress Mowed Lawn ink. Then picked it up and overlapped to make the “grass” fuller.
The dies from the Die of the Month created the club, the ball and the ingenious shadow of the ball. The sentiment is from the Deluxe Caboodle free bonus item – Better Press sentiments.
So next time you pick up a stencil or two…look for another way to use a part of it rather than all of it. Stretch your supplies to the fullest.
Thanks for visiting me. I hope you will come again.
