Stitching Up Paper Magic: Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month – A Must-Have for Crafty Hands!

Hello creative souls!

I’m so excited to share with you a project I recently completed using the Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month. If you’re a fan of stitching, paper crafting, or just love adding texture and depth to your cards and projects, this is a great one for you.

A handmade card featuring bright orange and green floral designs, accented with various leaves. The card has an embossed background and a sentiment reading 'hello' and 'GOURD-GEOUS'. It is displayed on a clear stand against a backdrop of decorative pumpkins and flowers.

This month’s Stitching Die of the Month is all about faux embroidery brought to life through paper and thread. The set includes beautifully detailed dies that are pre-pierced for stitching, making it super beginner-friendly—even if you’ve never picked up a needle before. And just in time for the fall season we have some gourds/pumpkins.

For today’s project, I created a layered 5″x 6.5″ card.

Supplies Used:

  • Spellbinders Large Die of the Month – Stitching Die Set
  • Spellbinders Platinum Die Cutting Machine
  • Ivory cardstock
  • Embroidery floss (DMC green)
  • Foam adhesive
  • Sentiment and leaf dies that came with the set

Steps:

  1. Die Cut – I ran the gourd dies through my machine using heavyweight orange cardstock.
  2. Stitch It Up – Using green threads, I stitched the lined design. Previously, I wasn’t a fan of stitching but I am finding it is growing on me. TIP: Use a small piece of low tack tape to secure the thread ends on the back.
  3. For the card front I embossed ivory paper with the Spellbinders Embossing Folder of the Month
  4. Layer & Pop – The largest pumpkin I glued down directly on the embossed card front. The medium pumpkin was popped up with thin adhesive squares. The smallest one was popped up with thicker foam squares.
  5. I scattered leaves and acorns around the pumpkins cut from a variety of papers to give texture and shine.

You can use this die with or without stitching. If you’re in a hurry, the design stands beautifully on its own as an intricate die-cut. Or you can color the lines meant for stitching with a pen or marker. But if you’re looking for a tactile, heirloom feel, add your stitches and it becomes a true keepsake.

Whether you’re a cardmaker, scrapbooker, or a mixed media artist, this die set adds that “wow” factor with ease. The Stitching Die of the Month is available through Spellbinders’ club subscription. It’s a monthly creative treat that you’ll look forward to—and you can skip or cancel any time. It is available now through the 27th of the month – just click the link below.
