Don’t you just love the many colors of dragonflies in the world? They can be so striking with vibrancy! Using Spellbinders Small Die of the Month I wanted jewel tones to make this guy shine! This die set will allow you to cut multicolored wings or solid wings making it very versatile.
I used some turquoise cardstock to cut the solid wings, then added a bit of ink blending to the inside tips for dimension.
The outline is done in gold metallic cardstock.
At this point I stopped to figure out design of a card. The simplest thing became my inspiration — an already cut oval from light purple cardstock. Hmmm, let’s jazz it up a bit! I took Distress Wilted Violet ink and blended around the outside of the oval. That led to –oh, lets make the flowers a deep purple! Oh, and then I can make the dragonfly’s head purple to match the flowers. Using purple paper I cut out all the tiny pieces. I decided the center of flowers should be darker so I, again, used some wilted violet ink over the purple cardstock just for these centers.
The background is made with the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month on some vellum. I love the look of vellum embossed…gives so much texture but doesn’t distract from the colors of the dragonfly.
The sentiment was cut out once in white cardstock and once in gold metallic cardstock then glued to give a bit more dimension.
This turned out to be my favorite Club card for this month. Hope you like it! Club kits are available from the 6th of the month to the 27th of the month. And don’t forget the great deal of the whole Deluxe Caboodle!
What colors would you choose for your dragonfly?
