Happy St. Patrick’s Day Pot of Gold at the end of a Rainbow

I looked out my window after the rain and not only did I see a beautiful rainbow but also a huge pot of gold overflowing with nuggets! Oh, soooo magical!

This great background was made curtsey of Spellbinders Glimmer plate of the Month and Rainbow hot foil. So much fun for a simple card.

Steps:

  1. Ink blend a white card base with some Distress Speckled Egg ink and a touch of Lost Shadow.
  2. Using the Glimmer machine and Rainbow foil create another piece of cardstock.
  3. Once foiled, clean up any loose foil then ink blend over it with both inks again. When done rub a paper towel over the foil to bring out the shine again.
  4. To create the pot I went really simple — an oval die cut that spans the width of the rainbow. I added some black embossing powder over part of the ‘pot’ to indicate an edge. By using a Distress embossing brush pen it is very easy to do. Add powder then heat.
  5. The stand for the pot was just a negative piece of cardstock from the end of the oval diecutting then adding black embossing powder as in #4.
  6. I trimmed the RAINBOW down on each side following the lines and used some thin (1/8″) foam tape to adhere it to the card base.
  7. I did the same for the stand of the pot, then added more thin tape to the whole pot and positioned it over the rainbow.
  8. Using a gold pen I put coins and nuggets into the pot.

The special surprise for added dimension is GOLD WAX from wax seals! Instead of making a big seal I simply created little drops and used them like dots to fill and overflow my lucky pot!

The sentiment is also from the March Glimmer Club of the Month foiled with Cobalt blue foil. CLUBS ARE OPEN NOW FOR MARCH. Click the link below to get yours before March 27th. With every foil plate ensemble there is also a role of foil – color may vary.
