Altenew August 2022 Endless Ambition Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

Welcome to the Endless Ambition Blog Hop with lots of goodies with hot foil plates and stencils…and some stand-alone dies. If you are following along in the blog you got her from my friend Terri Koszler and your next stop is the wonderful Laurie Willison. If you want to start at the beginning click the Altenew Blog post.

As hot foils grew in popularity last year and offered additional designs, I bit the bullet and purchased the Spellbinders Glimmer Machine. It really is easy to use and gives lovely results. I also got a variety of colors and designs of foil as you will see below.

My first card is special as it is highlighting the soon-to-be-released Brushed Gold from Altenew. The foiling was done using the Flowery Bouquet Hot Foil Plate and the Brushed Gold foil. Then the sentiment were created with the Sweet Sentiment Die Set for a simple but very elegant look.

The next two cards show how the positive and negative of foiling can work. First I took the Flowery Wreath Hot Foil plate with green foil to create the wreath outline. Rather than to color in the wreath itself I used the Flowery Wreath Stencils to color directly on the card front, cut a circle in the foiled wreath and popped it up over the colorful stenciling. To add more color I used Altenew enamel dots to the top and a few green sequins.

For the second card I first used the ‘hello’ from the Sweet Sentiment Hot Foil Plate set on a small piece of cardstock. Then using the Pinkfresh’s solid foil plate with the remaining green foil I foiled another card front. It is popped up with foam tape and few sequins to create a lovely card in the negative.

These next two cards won my heart! I first used the Rainbow Burst Foil Plate with the solid blue foil then rotated it slightly to foil again it blue. The teal/turquoise foil was used to do the same so in all, the card front was foiled 4 times. It is so striking in person with all the glimmer and of course, it looks like fireworks. So ‘celebrate’ from the Sweet Sentiments Die Set was used as a sentiment cut from glitter paper.

The last card is the negative of the blue foiling for the first card. Although not fully planned, it came out lovely by matching the centers of the burst. So besides getting a negative from just one pass of foil, you CAN get a tremendous negative foiling from a double foiled sheet. I cut this card front ever so slightly to put the center of the radial just off center on the card front. The sentiment is just reversed from the first card with the blue glitter paper as the shadow die behind white cardstock. This didn’t need any additional bling — you can see on the right the reflections the foil gives when in the light.

I hope you have enjoyed these techniques and cards. They were super fun to make and not nearly as hard as what it looks. Give foiling a try…it’s addicting and terrific!
