Altenew Craft Your Life: Feathered Lilies

You should have arrived here from the lovely Rebecca Sogn

It is my honor to be asked to inspire you in using this wonderful kit in its debut.  I chose to use the embossing folder that gives dimension to the simple piece of cardstock.

There is so much beauty in this folder I didn’t want to cut any of it off, therefore I made a 5.5” square card instead of an A2 size card.  One of my favorite card color combinations is pink and gray.  I chose to apply ink to the embossing folder using a brayer – first I pressed my Cloudy Night ink cube onto my glass media mat, sprayed it with water, then picked up the wet ink with my brayer.  I applied this ink to the raised portion of the embossing folder that was the background – this would then create a white flower against the gray background.  White flowers are hard to create but this is one way to make them stand out.  To give a bit more pazazz to the stamen, I used a silver pen over them.

It was time to add color with Coral Berry Mixed Media Ink.  I again pressed the ink pad to my media mat and spritzed it with water.  This time, though, I used a fanned paint brush to pick of the color, tapping it over the card to splatter the pink.  I trimmed it down slightly to allow for a pink boarder matching the boarder to the ink color.  For the sentiment, I stamped in Coral Berry Ink on a die cut from the Altenew Apothecary Labels Stamp & Die Bundle. To help it stand out I edged the label with the Cloudy Night gray ink.  For finishing touches I added some sparkly silver chunky glitter.

This was a delightful card to make and one that could be made in quantity.  It would be a great card to make in sets with different colors, reversing colors, or making in rainbow colors.  What a nice gift this would be to give a friend, teacher, or another crafty friend.  I hope you enjoy this awesome Craft Your Life embossing folder!
