Altenew NEW Sweet Moments Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

I was more than excited to be invited to this release blog hop!  And, well, I might have gotten a bit carried away with all the goodness.  Adding to the excitement, my world opened up to hot foiling to which I am now smitten.  Thanks to my friend from down under Annemarie Caister for sending you my way!

I am also excited to introduce new foil plates from Altenew and happy, happy that they are adding more to their collection.  I did a bit of experimenting with the full All Kinds of Amazing Hot Foil Plate.  What would it look like on patterned paper?  What would it look like on plain?  I used a piece of paper from the Wildflower 6×6 paper pack and a silver foil.  Overall, it looked okay but wasn’t easy to read.  On to create a better example…

Next, I took a piece of photo paper covered (on the shiny side) with Velvet Alcohol Ink.  The color varied on the paper but was mostly solid.  For this I used some silver holographic speckle foil. WOW, did this ever stand out!  Just a bit of fussy cutting around the foiling and adding it to a debossed (Dotted Swirls plate) card front made the deep red really pop.  A few deep red gemstones gave it a bit more sparkle.

The next foil plate was Splatter Hot Foil Plate.  We all know that splatter gives a card detail and interest.  For this one, I used pink foil and paired it with Roses cut from the Craft-A-Flower Rose and Bitty Bloom 3D die sets. The sentiment is from the Inside and Out stamp set, stamped in black on vellum and clear embossed to set it and give it shine.

The next foil plate is a true beauty – and as you have seen along this blog, it can be used in many different ways. Eucalyptus Wreath Hot Foil Plate is such a beautiful plate I didn’t want to cut off any of it.  First, I used gold Aura foil on a 5×7 card, then colored in the leaves. When I think of Eucalyptus leaves, I think of them as a blueish green so I set off trying combinations of Artist markers to get the blend and color I wanted.  I used WG03 Evening Gray and B803 Mountain Mist. The sentiment needed to be simple and the Tiny Sentiments: Hello die cut in gold paper fit the bill.  Then just a few sequins and some Gold Altenew metallic thread finished it off.

For my next card I started with the Candy Cane Stripe Cover die in white over a white card base.   The delicate Rose Queen Die was cut from Altenew Blends 6×6 Paper Pack and edged with the Gold Foiled Winter Roses washi tape.  A simple sentiment from the Pots & Plants stamp set and some enamel dots finished it off.

As Laura Bassen would say “Dimension is life!” so I finished my series out with two multi level cards. The first used the Colorful Soul Stamp set to make a rainbow wreath.  This is meant to be a layering ink set so the die is only for the largest of the flowers.  I used only the A set of flowers and stamped each layer separately then fussy cut the two smaller flower layers for each color.  I used circle foam dots to pop the flower layers up then topped them with and enamel dot of the same color family.  They just circled themselves in beauty creating the wreath.  The gold foil pinstripe washi tape set the base for a gold embossed sentiment from the same set.

And the fun on the last card!! What different way could I use the great Woven Basket embossing folder…how about a woven basket?  I played with some dies and found that Altenew’s Nesting Frames dies could be put together to make a basket.  I die cut the largest frame twice from kraft paper then embossed both pieces with this magnificent folder. I cut the top of the top frame to resemble the edge of the basket and the sides of the back to be straight.  To highlight the weave and edges I used Almond Butter ink.  I colored two plants fom the Pots and Plants Stamp and Die Bundle using Jet Black ink, Parrot, Olive, Grass Field, Shadow creek and Milk Chocolate Artist markers. On the 3.75” x 6.25” base I used a piece of the Altenew Blends paper pack and glued on my basket back. By gluing the sides of the basket front right at the edge of the basket back, I created a true look of one whole basket.  Then I planted my plants, added a sentiment from the same set and a few sequins to give it bling.
