All About Layering 2

Oh, can you feel the breeze from the ocean and feel the sand in your toes? Do you love the sight of the tropical birds and think this is Paradise? Well, the Bird of Paradise flower will help take you there in your mind. Sooo vibrant and unusual and in so many different colors….

I LOVE this flower. I actually emailed Altenew last year asking for this to become a stamp, and every opportunity on FaceBook I would ask again. Apparently I wasn’t the only one and here is this NEW beauty that just came out. I was even a bit giddy as I used it and played with it to create this card.

First I stamped all the outlines in Jet Black ink. Then stamped the layered leaves with Firefly, Grassfield, and Shadow Creek. On to the petals…oh, I wanted them to be spectacular. So I used the Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, Rubellite, and Razzleberry inks for the pinks. The tiny little flower petals were created with Turquoise and Starlight inks.

It didn’t quite meet what my mind was picturing so I added to it by stamping the smallest pink flower layer with Altenew Embossing ink and heat embossing using the beautiful Translucent Pearl powder. Yes, that brought the color to life even more! Oh, says me, let’s do more. So I stamped the largest leaf and stem of each size flower and the largest (pink) petals in embossing ink and heat embossed them with the Translucent Pearl. That helped to bring out the white flowers more as well.

The sentiment came from this same stamp set and it was stamped in Starlight, heat embossed with Translucent Pearl, the attached to the card, with the word Paradise popped up with foam tape. It still needed a bit more so I die cut two masks out of Gina K Masking Magic and covered the colored flowers. I then used Starlight ink with a bit of water to sprinkle and spatter over the rest of the card; popped it up on craft foam with a matching colored background on the card base and VOILA – it’s done.

I love, love, love this stamp set and want to make many colored Bird of Paradise flowers in the future.Thank you, Altenew, for listening to your audience and creating this stamp.
